About me

I am a twenty-two-year-old photographer, graphic artist, and car enthusiast born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I come from a family full of air-cooled Volkswagen and Porsche fanatics on both sides, my grandfather having spent time in the 1960s as a race car driver and assembler of dune buggies at The Bug House in Hayward, California.

Growing up, my love for automobiles burgeoned with Pixar’s Cars and the BBC’s television series Top Gear. However, the foremost reason of my lifelong automotive infatuation would be my father’s 1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. The flowing, one-piece, Italian-designed bodywork that blanketed my dad’s VW inspired my obsession with the golden-era of the coachbuilt sporting car, from the postwar 1940s to early ‘70s.

I’ve spent countless hours the last several years amassing as much knowledge as I can about rare and unique motor vehicles from every era, from the horseless carriages of the 19th century to the exotic hypercars of today. I’ve also had the opportunity to appreciate these cars in person by attending every historic racing and concours event I can, including Rennsport Reunion, Velocity Invitational, and Monterey Car Week.

Since 2024, I’ve had the privilege of volunteering at the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, where I was the field host of Frua in 2024 and Virgil Exner Late in ‘25.

I am currently actively searching for an opportunity to start a career in the classic car industry. I am open to working in any context, whether it be restoration, service, sales, detailing—anything just to get in the door. I am incredibly eager to start from the ground up and make a name for myself in the world of vintage automobiles.

If you’re looking for a young, hungry addition to your team I encourage you to view my resume here, and please don’t hesitate to call, text, or e-mail me at (408) 702-7935 or lucas@lucaspicard.com.

Here I am as a Field Host for the 73rd annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, standing beside my favorite car there, the ex-Juan Perón 1952 Ferrari 212 Inter with bespoke coachwork by Carrozzeria Ghia.
